Simple Solar System Sandbox
A downloadable game
Take a trip into the Solar System, with this quick and dirty take on a Physics-based Simulation. Watch the planets orbit our star, inspect them for extra information, and add a few asteroids if you like, to see how their presence affects the system.
Controls:
- Escape to pause the Sim
- R to reload the Sim
- Left Click (On a planet) to select it
- Right Click, Hold, and Release to create new planets
This was programmed in a little over 5 hours as part of a rapid prototyping class I'm taking this spring semester. As such, not everything works quite right.
- The slowmo makes the planets move jerkily.
- Mars cycles faster than the Earth
- Uranus cycles faster than Jupiter or Saturn
- Speeding up the passage of time causes Mercury to slowly fall into the Sun
- I also didn't get the trajectory estimator for spawning new celestial bodies implemented in time.
I might revisit this in the future and fix this things, once I understand how.
It's the future, and I've revisited this. Check the latest devlog to see what's changed!
